GAIL's Bakery
South Kensington
SW7
Welcome to my blog! Your place to come for C&C reviews. In my very first post I will be reviewing one of my favourites.
GAIL's Bakery are a staple in London. From their first bakery in Hampstead High Street in 2005, they have grown to over 60 bakeries in neighbourhoods across the capital as well as Oxford and Brighton. Well known not only for their extensive selection of sourdough loaves but also their famous almond croissant!
GAIL's almond croissant is a regular feature on weekend explorations in and around London.
The Croissant
The Look
Evenly baked, with a generous topping of flaked almonds and icing sugar. On the large size, but who would complain about that?
The Flavour
This guy packs a punch and has a great richness to it. The almond paste inside finds a good balance between nutty and sweet and is very moreish.
The Coffee
Gail's have their own House Blend from Union Coffee, who are also London based. Stay tuned for future posts focused on Union Coffee!
The Coffees & Croissants combo score
9/10 - well worth having a look for a GAIL's bakery in your neighbourhood. The C&C work very well together, the House Blend combined with this sizeable almond croissant certainly brightens up a dark December Sunday morning!
